Candidates

Welcome! At Industrial Resources you are truly valued. We look forward to helping you find the right opportunity for your professional and personal growth.

Before we begin looking at opportunities, we strongly recommend that you take the time to work on your resume. Remember that it is the first impression your future employers will have of you, so make it worth it! Below you will find several tips to help you improve your resume. Once you have it ready, please do not hesitate to upload your information into our system. We will be happy to have you.

Tips for Improving your Resume

• Make sure to use a font that is easy to read. We strongly recommend you choose Arial 11 pts.

• Use bold letters ONLY in the areas shown on the Resume Sample.

• Use bullet points to describe the activities performed under EACH company you have worked for.

• Begin each bullet point with a verb, as this implies that you are the owner of the process you are explaining.

• When developing your bullet points, follow this formula: Start with a verb + add an activity or object + what you did + how you did it + what was the result / achievement.

• Based on the previous point, your bullet points should look similar to this: "Improved the selection process for hiring new engineers by hiring an external consultant to interview and evaluate them, shortening the process by 50%."

Do's & Don'ts

•DO remember that your resume should NOT be a description of your areas of responsibility. Your responsibilities should be mentioned - yes - but only as a frame for you to explain your achievements and contributions, as that is what will get the companies interested in you.

• DON'T use shadows, graphics, columns, etc. in your resume. They may look pretty, but they will make your resume really difficult to read and digest, slow to upload, and ultimately difficult for recruiters to parse into their systems.

• DON'T worry about your resume being longer that one page. If you are a mature professional, your resume may even be 3 or 4 pages long - just make sure that the information you are including is worthwhile sharing.

• DO be authentic, but make sure in being authentic you don't come across as so out of the norm that no one will be enticed to interview you.

• DO make sure to check our Job Opportunities page often for new and exciting opportunities!
